- I just read your link, re: View ideas. You make an interesting point at the
- end suggesting someone should publish MacApp objects and other code goodies.
- We're already doing it. For a brief outline of the MacApp Developers
- Association and the MacApp object library already available (we call them
- software "products" or "goodies"), look for a PKG file "About MADA" on
- AppleLink in the MacApp Discussion folder.
-
- The code we publish is packaged with the appropriate documentation, and in most
- cases can be used without paying a licensing fee beyond the original purchase
- price. The only stipulation is that you carry forward all copyright notices in
- your own code. Developers who contribute code for these disks often are paid a
- royalty from the sales, though many contributors waive these royalties. Many
- of the contributors are Apple engineers, and they cannot accept royalties if
- the code was developed as part of their work assignments. The sales of these
- products subsidizes the Association's other services (such as the publication
- of our bimonthly technical journal, FrameWorks).
-
- If I can provide you with any further information, please drop me a link.
- Also, if you have code which you think would be valuable to your fellow
- MacAppers, we would like to talk to you about publishing it.
